a chaplet in his hands with a cross. The Immaculate Conception medal is dated 1830) + CHAPLET OF FR JACQUES MARQUETTE SJ RIGHT: The little corona, crown of stars, chaplet of Fr Marquette was prayed daily shortly before his death along with his two companions in the Great Lakes area of our country. Although no actual prayer beads or knotted cords have been found, he most likely was inspired by the count above by Berchmans as would have known about him. The chaplet below has a few extra beads yet the prayer lends itself to the configuration we dedicate here. It is also available with a cross instead of the medal. + +
CHAPLET OF ST JOHN BERCHMANS SJ LEFT & MIDDLE: The chaplet, the Chaplet of the Immaculate Conception of the Miraculous Medal, was composed by St. John Berchmans, SJ. (1599-1621 - Feast day Nov 26) He prayed it daily to obtain Mary's intercession. His desire was to never commit any sin against the virtue of purity. There are 3 sets of 4 beads each, on which the basic rosary prayers are said. Like our rosaries, the chaplets are very sturdy and strong. for more information click links below ST JOHN BERCHMANS - BLUE / CRYSTAL PERE JACQUES MARQUETTE to see the two top images of chaplets go directly to cart links below for more info: PERE MARQUETTE II - PERE MQRQUETTE III MIRACULOUS MEDAL - SHOPPING CART - MORE LINKS (use back button to return to this page) |

*DEATH of PERE MARQUETTE* |
Pere Marquette SJ died on the shores of lake Michigan near Luddington. Here we see in this 1877 Lithograph, Marquette holding a corona or chaplet with a cross. He was dedicated to our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and said his little corona every day along with his two companions. For more information on this devotion, see links below. |
*ABOUT: MIRACULOUS MEDAL* |
The medal of the Immaculate Conception was given to Saint Catherine Laboure on November 27th 1830 by the Blessed Virgin Mary, herself. She asked Catherine to have a medal struck of the image she gave her so that her children could wear it around their neck. She assured her they would receive special graces. Originally this medal carried the title of the 'Medal of the Immaculate Conception' but when so many miracles began to happen to people when they wore it, it gained the name of the 'Miraculous Medal.' The reverse side has a cross coming up from an M. The 2 hearts are below, one on either side (Sacred Heart of Jesus and Pierced heart of Mary, and is surrounded by 12 stars. The front of the medal pictures Mary with her arms out stretched and framed in the following words + "O Mary, conceived without original sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee" (recite daily from the heart) |
I just received the Chaplet of the Immaculate Conception; like your other work it is a masterpiece! The medal is substantial, so unlike the mass produced versions one is used to...I have a chaplet of this type from a different source, and it could not withstand daily pocket wear (the links broke!) but I am confident that yours will be a sturdy companion in my prayer life. I especially like the tiny faceted spring green spacers, which somehow harmonize with the larger pink yet again! Peace, Christina Kangas (USA)
