*WHAT is an AGNUS DEI?*
(for more information and more links to collections see below) + OUR GERMAN COLLECTOR MUSEUM COLLECION SERIES from private collections who have given us permission to use their images so we may be inspired by and may learn more about antique rosaries, chaplets and prayer beads. + AGNUS DEI ONE OF MY FAVORITE PIECES Our German collector shares, "This is one of my favourite pieces. All pieces are in the form of a heart. In my opinion the beads are from jade in the form of a heart. The center and the box are both from brass. The heart with Agnus Dei on it is a 'breverl'. + Inside there is a little picture, [and] a letter for the Lord or a little piece of relic. I don´t know it exactly because a good piece must be closed. If you open them and look inside the secret and the help from the Lord [goes] away." for

*WHAT is an AGNUS DEI?* They are small
discs of round or oval wax impressed with a symbol of a lamb often bearing
a flag or a cross on one side and other symbols on the other. Papal
Coat of Arms, figures or names of saints are common. It is
a sacramental made to be worn around the neck. It is believed to
have started in Rome about the 5th century during the last days of the
overthrow of paganism in that city. For more information and history, see:
