In 1460, Blessed Alanus de Rupe preached the ‘Dominican’ Rosary which was divided up into 3 groups of 50 beads. Each of these 3 groups, representing the mysteries of the life of Christ - the Incarnation, Passion and the Resurrection. They come directly from Scripture. It was called the Marian Psalter. + Today we call these three mysteries and rejoice in the new fourth mystery: for more information see JOYFUL - SORROWFUL - GLORIOUS - LUMINOUS MORE LINKS From the New American Bible |

The traditional rosary received its greatest transition in 2002 when Pope John Paul II introduced the Luminous Mysteries (Mysteries of Light) as an option for Roman Catholics in an Apostolic Letter on the Rosary, ROSARIUM VIRGINIS MARIAE. It brought forth highlights Christ's life on earth. |

Thank you and bless all of you for the work you do. Though I was raised Catholic I'd never even heard of a chaplet until I found your web site. Now I keep one in my hand when I can and definitely while viewing the news. During 9/11 and anniversary I felt the prayers of others and experienced the peace It brought. I realized I owed a debt to those who dedicate themselves to prayer and try every day now to pay it forward. Thanks again for the wonderful site and have a blessed season. Carolan Weibel (USA)
