ONE MONTH AT A TIME
To read and understand the ancient starry message of the coming of the Jewish Messiah in the sky, you will need to start with the month of September, not January as in our calendar.  Why? Because the story was written for a Jewish people and their annual calendar begins with the month of September.

BEGINNING WITH SEPTEMBER
It begins with VIRGO (Virgin) and ends with LEO (the Lion of Judah, Yeshua, Christ). This remarkable story of salvation is told one month at a time through the 12 constellations called the MAZZAROTH (Hebrew for the starry crown in the heavens above). This alone is stunning but to see these ancient star names still being used in contemporary astronomy is as confirming as their mention in the Old Testament from a time before Job.

MAZZAROTH
The ancient Hebrew 'Mazzaroth' tells a remarkable story in the sky.  This story told in the stars predates the Christian Era, yet the story is about the coming of the the Messiah, the Jewish Messiah. Jesus was a Jew.  According to the Old Testament, it was written in the heavens 'BY THE HAND OF GOD.'

WHAT DOES 'MAZZAROTH MEAN?  IT IS A CIRCULAR 'BAND' OR 'CROWN' OF STARS DIVIDED INTO 12 CONSTELLATIONS (12 TRIBES OF ISRAEL) CALLED THE ZODIAC. ('the way' or 'the path')

ASTRONOMY
Today we know the study of the stars is called 'ASTRONOMY. (Under no circumstances does the word 'Mazzaroth' or 'Zodiac' originate in 'Astrology'.  They are found in the Old Testament. Today the term 'Astrology' is a deception by the Serpent of Genesis, whose intention is to put 'strange gods' in front of the story of 'Salvation History' in the stars,  The story of Him who Saves, written by God himself about who was to come. .

FIT INTO THE 12 SIGNS?

EXODUS 28:9-12
God's instructions to Moses for Aaron
 9 "Get two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel:  10 six of their names on one stone, and the other six on the other stone, in the order of their birth.  11 As a gem cutter engraves a seal, so shall you have the two stones engraved with the names of the sons of Israel and then mounted in gold filigree work. 12 Set these two stones on the shoulder straps of the ephod as memorial stones of the sons of Israel. Thus Aaron shall bear their names on his shoulders as a reminder before the LORD.

God continues to instruct Moses, using 12 stones each believed to have the attributes of that tribe. The stones were often identified by their country or origin and various bible translations do not always identify the same stones or placements. (i.e. some translations include turquoise (Turkey), some do not.)

15 "The breastpiece of decision you shall also have made, embroidered like the ephod with gold thread and violet, purple and scarlet yarn on cloth of fine linen twined. 16 It is to be square when folded double, a span high and a span wide 17 On it you shall mount four rows of precious stones: in the first row, a carnelian, a topaz and an emerald; 18 in the second row, a garnet, a sapphire and a beryl;  19  in the third row, a jacinth, an agate and an amethyst; 20  in the fourth row, a chrysolite, an onyx and a jasper. Instead of wearing your birthstone as jewelry, pray your prayers on a rosary dedicated to the stone given your month or the month of a loved one. Father Joe, our spiritual advisor, suggested dedicating and praying a birthstone rosary of a loved one or family member (living or dead). How much more personal is this response than jewelry. We are brought into history with this prayer action. The birthstones used here were inspired by the scripture above and standardized and designated by the American Gem Society in 1938.

REMEMBER, 
ONE MONTH AT A TIME
The story in the stars will be put together one month at a time, starting with the Hebrew calendar, September VIRGO (the Virgin) and ending with August,  LEO (King of Judah / Chirst). We were all born under the sign of the CROSS, but as we continue our journey, month by month, through the sky, give the stars back to God who created them, note His glory and His story in each of the 12 constellations.

Why are we entering into such a controversial subject for some? 1. To remove the deception of the evil one and give back the glory to God (see Psalms 115:15 above)   2. To set our sites on our true home, the heavens above, the new Jerusalem.

 ANCIENT IMAGE: 
VIRGO is the first in the series of 12 constellations that tell the starry story of the coming of the Jewish Messiah, ending in LEO (August). this follows the Jewish calendar that begins in September. This constellation is recognized throughout the world as 'Virgin'. (Today we see her as Mary), child across stomach (Messiah), as imaged by the early Babylonians, Egyptians and was recorded as 'The Great Mother'. She has corn in left hand ('Promised Seed'), branch in right ('Shoot'). ('The Promised Seed of the Woman Who Comes').

Hebrews called this constellation BETHULAH or ALMAH ('Virgin'). The Greeks called it PARTHENOS ('Virgin') and the Arabians: ADARAH ('Pure Virgin' or 'Sunbel', the latter meaning "An Ear of Corn' which confirms the seed or Christ). As early as 5000 bc, the Chinese called this constellation 'The Barren Woman'. It is interesting that in Syriac (India) she is called by the name similar to the Hebrew, BETHULTO (St Thomas brought Christianity to India in 52 ad, - a curious possibility).  And in Coptic, she was called 'The Desired Branch'. Latin: Virgin, Virga = a branch.

COMA: Image of mother sitting on a throne holding a child in one hand - his head higher than his mother's. COMA: ‘the desired one’, 'son of God'.  In the other hand she holds two ears of corn.  This image reflects the constellation VIRGO. Some of the stars in the constellation are *SUBILAH* (Hebrew: 'Who Bears') , *AZIMON* ('Two Ears of Corn'), *AL-AZAL* ('The Branch'). It is believed by many that the Star of Bethlehem was in this constellation.

BOOTES (Greek): 'The great shepherd'. The brightest star on his left knee is *ARCHTURUS* ('He Comes’, ‘The Coming One’, ‘The One Who Rules’ (Christ), holding a shepherds hook where the star *AL-KALURPOS* ('The Shepherds Crook') is in one hand capturing CORONA ('The Crown')  from SERPENS ('The Devil). A Sickle is held high in his left hand pointing to the stars in URSA MAJOR or the handle of the BIG DIPPER, and the star *MERGA* ('Sickle' or 'Who Bruises') is pointing towards the trail of stars from the sheepfold and forming the handle of the BIG DIPPER / URSA MAJOR).

The handle stars are lost sheep coming out of/going into the open gate of the SHEEPFOLD. The stars still carrying the ancient names of lost sheep: *DUBEH* ('flock'). *ALIOTH* ('she goat'), *MIZAR* ('separate'), *AL COR* ('the lamb'), *AL KAID* ('the assembled'). He separates the sheep from the goats. (Scripture refers to Christ as the SHEEPGATE)

The star on the head of BOOTES is called *NEKKA* ('The Pierced'), and left calf *MURPHRIDE* ('Who Separates'). BOOTES is also known as ARCHTURUS ('He Cometh').

ABOUT SHEEPFOLDS
AND URSAS AND DIPPERS 
GREATER and LESSER SHEEPFOLDS: The ancients called these two constellations (greater and lesser) Sheepfolds as noted above, with Christ as the Sheep Gate. URSA MAJOR and URSA MINOR: each represent a non existent bear with a long tail and this title comes from ancient times, translations possibly add to the confusion. BIG and LITTLE DIPPERS were believed named by the people traveling across the great plains during the movement West in America but may have come from earlier sources.

 What we know as the star constellations - pictures in the night sky - are often called in English the "signs of the Zodiac", is known in Hebrew as "the Mazzeroth", star constellations placed by God Himself, Job 38:31; Isaiah 13:10; Amos 5:8. This placement of the stars by God was done to tell the Gospel plan of redemption before the Bible was put into writing. The word Zodiac is a term used in astronomy, Job 9:9 (lb).  God’s message in the stars where the book of creation speaks to man of God's awesome power, Psalm 19:1–6 (Note words “speech,” “language,” “voice” in the text. Then compare verses 7–13.).

THE BIBLE CONDEMNS ASTROLOGY
The science of Astronomy is NEVER to be confused with ASTROLOGY which is fortune telling and the Bible condemns.  ASTRONOMY is the science dealing with the phenomena outside the earth’s atmosphere but especially concerned with the observable arrangements, motions, and characteristics of the heavenly  bodies planets, stars, asteroids and universes in space. The word “astronomy” is based on two Greek words meaning “the law of the stars.”

ASTRONOMY AND ITS VALUES
  Astronomy is by no means a modern science. Human beings have always been preoccupied with the heavens. The concern of the earliest civilizations with the universe appears to have been mainly intellectual curiosity and the need for navigational orientation were certainly additional factors. (Also remember the star of Bethlehem that guided the 3 kings to the child Jesus. They have been called 'readers of the stars', and 'astronomers'. The term astrologers is questionable)

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?
The Bible provides some interesting insights about astronomy. According to Genesis 1:14–19 the sun and moon, along with the stars, have the function of giving light on the earth, determining the seasons, and functioning as “signs.” The word “season” may denote festal seasons as well as the annual seasons. The Hebrew calendar was a lunar-solar calendar similar to that of the Babylonians. Hebrew festal seasons were based on the phases of the moon. The function of the heavenly bodies as signs seems to relate to their delineation of the heavens, permitting human beings on earth to orient themselves, navigate land and the high seas and know the stars were created by God.

Always pray and discern what you read as it is the fruit of the subject that reveals its source. Our information here is very, very basic. Because of space we have been unable to show how these constellations tie together and unite the story in fullness.
