~ "UNDOER of KNOTS" ~ |
THE KNOT OF EVE'S DISOBEDIENCE Dating back to the teachings of St Paul we learn about the New Adam and the New Eve. And St Irenaeus (120-200) continued this word of mouth, an honored tradition by noting, "And so the knot of Eve's disobedience received its unloosing through the obedience of Mary; for what Eve a virgin, bound by incredulity, Mary, a virgin, unloosed by faith." See more below under New Adam, New Eve.
+ AVES: Faceted crystal blue with granite ends. PATERS: A wonderful find! Hand carved wooden 'knots', each framed with antiqued metal caps. The knots symbolize the knots in each of our lives - knots of disobedience and sin. - ourwaiting for Mary, the New Eve to untie. + KNOT A CORD ON YOUR ROSARY We hope you will knot a cord on your personal rosary as a reminder to either pray for a personal knot in your life or a knot that is taking our nation captive. Let the cord hang down so it may be seen. Many old filigree rosaries have fabric ribbons tied to them as reminders. + Mary, Undoer of Knots
(Augsburg Germany) painting by Johann Melchior Georg Schmittdner c. 1700 + INSCRIBED PRAYER Over the years, Cardinal Bergoglio, (now Pope Francis), would include a holy card of Mary, Undoer of Knots in his correspondence. Inscribed on the beck was the following prayer: +
THE HOLY FATHER REMINDS US “All of us have knots in our hearts, failings and all of us go through difficult times. Our good Lord, who bestows grace on all His children, wants us to have faith in Her; he wants us to entrust the knots of our woes to her, the knots of our miseries that prevent us from reaching God, so that She can untie them and bring us closer to His son Jesus. This is the meaning of the icon.” Pope Francis + TIME HONORED TRADITION St. Irenaeus, more fully developed the early word of mouth tradition of St. Paul who paralleled Adam and Christ:
FROM THE 1700s TO TODAY But more recently we are made aware of the beautiful paining of Our Lady, Undoer of Knots painted in the early 1700s. In the image she is standing on the serpents head as she unties the knot tied by Eve. + In the 1980’s Archbishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio, S.J. (now Pope Francis) saw the painting at the church of St. Peter Perlach (Augsburg Germany). He was so deeply touched by this devotion, he brought it back to Argentina where it grew in popularity with the people. Now, we are made more aware of its history thanks again to Pope Francis. SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI (1182-1226).
+ SISTER DEATH AVES: For Ave beads we have chosen a faceted brown/black glass bead that reminds us of the woven and patched garment of Francis of Assisi. PATERS Hand carved skulls from a fine wood. In response to Francis who often spoke of 'Sister Death'. + WHY SKULLS? He wanted us to set our sites on our eternal life, not that of earth. He lives and calls us to lead a simpler life. Francis is often painted with a skull in his hand or near by. Read more regarding his signature which includes the ancient tradition of Adams skull below at bottom of page. + Our 266th Pope took the name of Francis. This is the first time in the history of the church this name has been chosen by a Pope. It gives us an inner look into the soul of this man of God who will lead the church. He is a Jesuit - not a Franciscan - as one might first think. Jesuits take on the vow of obedience and poverty, too but there is something rare and beautiful about this blending. + FROM THE 'CANTICLE OF THE SUN' by FRANCIS

SAINT JOSEPH TERROR OF DEMONS!
+ AVE BEADS: fine grained high end wooden beads in 8mm PATER BEADS: Hand carved wooded beads in a leaf design, capped in Marian blue and antiqued filigress. Wood in honor of St Joseph the carpenter. Scripture does
not tell us much about Joseph, the chosen father of Jesus. Scripture refers
to him as a "tekton" traditionally the word has been taken to mean
"carpenter, as does the Greek which implys an artisan of wood, iron
or stone. We know he is from the line of David through his father Jacob.
Scipture speaks of Jesus' 'brothers' may mean'cousins as it still does
today in many cultures, or Joseph may have been a widow with children -
history does not tell us.
+ HOLY FAMILY CENTER A beautiful medal showing St Joseph, the protector and chosen father of Jesus as he holds this Child Jesus of the word of God. They stand in the beautiful archway, the 'Gate of Heaven', Mary as she is called in the Litany of Mary. + ST JOSEPH CENTER

~ CHAPLET ~ |
The all in one loop we use on our chaplets and many rosaries was inspired by an old tradition we have seen used in rosary books and in museums. They are very popular because they are so easy to pray, so easy on the fingers and do not tangle as pendant prayer beads have a tendency to do.

~ "FOR GREATER GLORY" ROSARY ~ |
AD MAJOREM DEI GLORIAM 'Ad majorem Dei gloriam', (AMDG), is the Latin motto of the Society of Jesus. In English: "For the greater glory of God".
+ AVE BEADS: PATER BEADS: These old vintage matte blue Pater beads are from Germany, dated pre WWII by the dealer. Each appears to have a cross on its surface. And if you look again, a small knot. A powerful reminder of the knot that Eve tied and that Mary unties for us. This devotion a favorite of our 266th Pope Francis, a Jesuit. Believed
to be from the founder of the Jesuits, Saint Ignatius of Loyola. The full
phrase from St Ignatius is "Ad majorem Dei gloriam inque hominum salutem"
or "for the greater glory of God and salvation of man." The monogram
as seen on Pope Francis' Coat of Arms is 'IHS'. 'IHS"has been used as a
monogram for the name of Jesus Christ since the 3rd century and for the
Society of Jesus since 1541.
Untier of Knots + OLD VINTAGE BLUE PATERS + JESUIT CRUCIFIX
Mohawk valley.) + JESUIT MISSIONARY CRUCIFIX: A rare find. Original found in the Mohawk Valley region of what we now know as NY at an old mission site dig. One of those crucifixes you wish could talk. What a history it could tell about the Jesuit who wore it and the events that surround it. The only known history passed to us by the collector was that it was carved by a priest who was ministering the indians in that area. + YET, WE WILL NEVER KNOW We will never know if there is a connection but it is a beautiful reminder of the North American Martyrs who were martyred at the Mohawk Indian village of Ossernenon between 1642 and 1646. St. Rene Goupil, a Jesuit brother, was martyred in 1642. St. Isaac Jogues, a Jesuit priest, and St. John Lalande, a lay missionary, were martyred in 1646. They remain the only canonized martyrs of the United States. + AVAILABLE INDIVIDUALLY All metal parts available individually in the SUPPLIES section, see above |

his chosen symbols reflect his
rosaries below. + READING THE SYMBOLISM + THE BLUE SHIELD The blue shield sits on top of the crossed papal keys of Peter and below the Tiara of the Pope. The center burst of gold with 'IHS" is the symbol of the Jesuit order. (IHS - first three letters of the Greek name of Jesus, iota-eta-sigma.) IHS is also featured in the Jesuit crest. + Below and to the left is the star, heraldic symbol for Our Lady and now, Star of the New Evangelization. On the right is a cluster of the herb spikenard, a sign of humility and symbolizing Joseph, protector of the Word. + THE MOTTO "MISERANDO ATQUE ELIGRNDO" Below the coat of arms, it reads: "Miserando Atque Eligrndo". (meaning 'lowly but chosen'; literally in Latin 'by having mercy, by choosing him'. + Along with the basic symbols, the motto is one the Pope had already chosen as Bishop. The words are taken from the homilies of the Venerable Bede on Saint Matthew's Gospel relating to his vocation: "Jesus saw the tax collector and by having mercy chose him as an Apostle saying to him : Follow me." (see Vatican Radio) + POPE FRANCIS REMINDS US:
MOST RESPECTED
+ CONFIDANT OF JPII Cardinal Bergoglio was "a major figure on the Vatican stage for a quarter of a century " as one of the most respected, influential and controversial members of the College of Cardinals"; he had an influence "second to none when it came to setting church priorities and directions" as one of Pope John Paul II's closest confidants. + A FAVORITE DEVOTION OUR LADY UNDOER OF KNOTS While a student, the Holy Father visited the church of St. Peter Perlach in Augsburg Germany where he saw the now famous paining of Our Lady, Udoer of Knots. He was so touched by the inage and tradition he brought it back to Argentina where it became a favorite of the people. And now we see this powerful devotion growing throughout the world. + KNOT A STRING ON YOUR ROSARY Read more below but do something special to remind you to ask her for special needs. Tie a cord, string or a ribbon around your personal rosary as a reminder of this ancient devotion, Mary, undoer of knots. Who tied the first knot? Eve! think about it! WE ARE DEEPLY INSPIRED. MAKING ROSARIES IS OUR LANGUAGE THAT SAYS 'THANK YOU!' The rosaries below were inspired by the life and devotions of our new Holy Father, Pope Francis. They are in response to how the guild feels about our 266th Pope. Designing these rosaries in his honor and to give the Greter Gory to God is simply our way of sayingmg 'Thank You'. Please enjoy but remember to pray your personal rosary daily for peace in the hearts of all. + |
IN THE FOOTSTEPS Our Lord has called his children, bringing each in line, each in perfect time to pass on his wisdom, slowly and gently he leads us from one good leader to the next. POPE BENEDICT XV1
'THE GLORY OF THE OLIVE' Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, our 265th pope, Benedict XVI, is not a Benedictine but a Diocesan Priest but the name he chose, Benedict, gave us a road sign - or the direction of his time as leader of the Roman Catholic Church. Choosing the name Benedict XVI opened up many prophetic words from centuries past who labeled Benedict - 'The Glory of the Olive'. The word Benedict means 'Blessings' and the order of 6th century St. Benedict is often called the 'Olivetans' has as its symbol the olive branch. (Peace maker). + POPE JOHN PAUL II (from the labor of the sun.) +v
MAKE PEACE BEFORE ... "Pray for your enemies in the love of Christ, Make peace, before the setting of the sun, with those from whom you have been separated by discord, and never despair of the mercy of God." Much has been said recently re JPII being 'De Labore Solis', (from the labor of the sun.) so this prophetic quote by St. Benedict makes one ponder. + ... THE SETTING OF THE SUN JP II was often thought of as 'De Labore Solis', (from the labor of the sun.) On the day of his funeral (April 8 2005) there was an eclipse of the sun as on the day of his birth. He was born during an eclipse (May 18, 1920). Eclipses of the sun have been thought of as 'signposts' or 'warnings' for centuries having heralded world events. He was 'Mary's Pope' of the 3 secrets of Fatima '(Miracle of the Sun'.) And the sun rises in the East as did JP II who was from Poland. + THE MERCY OF GOD IS THE HOPE THAT IS WITHIN |
