*"AWAKENING III" ROSARY* |
"We are dressed in the scaffold of creation: in seeing . . . to recognize all the world, in hearing . . . to understand, in smelling . . . to discern, in tasting . . . to nurture, in touching . . . to govern. "Spirited light! on the edge of the Presence your yearning burns in the secret darkness, O angels, insatiably into God’s gaze. Perversity could not touch your beauty; you are essential joy. But your lost companion, angel of the crooked wings – he sought the summit, shot down the depths of God and plummeted past Adam – that a mud – bound spirit might soar." St Hildegard von Bingen

"Underneath all the texts, all the sacred psalms and canticles, these watery varieties of sounds and silences, terrifying, mysterious, whirling and sometimes gestating and gentle must somehow be felt in the pulse, ebb, and flow of the music that sings in me. My new song must float like a feather on the breath of God." St Hildegard

*THOUGHTS* |
'It was self expression that eventually was the healing for Hildegard.- Letting go of the 'I can't' syndrome that would end her human, physical suffering. It was not the product but the process of meditation that healed her. +

SHE INSPIRES EACH OF US TO OPENESS AND GROWTH A trip to the Rhine, took us to Bingen Germany as they were getting ready to celebrate her 900th year of birth. She had caught my attention years ago because of her remarkable life but moreso her sensitivity to the fullness of all that is ours to understand. How many of us truly understand that music and color are one? |
