+ FIRE + AIR + EARTH + WATER RDND: NATURAL DISASTERS SERIES - EARTH the earth is always on the move, like a living organism. Something is happening somewhere in its core or on tis surface, volcanos, earthquakes - when the earth trembles - in the year 1693. + THE EARTH NEAR PESHTIGO WISCONSIN
+ EARTH: VOLCANOS AND EARTHQUAKES We humans on earth are all are in the line of fire when it comes to natural disasters. And in the last few years there seems to be an incredible outbreak of natural disasters not only in America but all over the world. This rosary series was inspired by these events, as we should not only pray for the safety of our own but of those who have gone before us who never had a chance for a conversion of heart. Intercessory prayer is needed more than ever before. + IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
Diego Vel?zquez + A CALL FOR THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION In 1669, Mt Aetna erupted and Catania was covered in lava / a lake of fire. 24 years later in 1693 an earthquake shook the town down to its foundations. On Jan 11, over 100,000 people were killed in Catania Sicily by a major earthquake. The first earthquake was on 9 January, at 4:30 am (6.2mg) followed on the 11th the second earthquake at 7.4mg. By May of that year, the people underwent a religious reformation and elected the Madonna of the Immaculate Conception as their patron saint. Catania would rise again and rebuild in the Baroque style using lava as its building stone. + IMMACULATE CONCEPTION MEDAL - 1693 The ancient medal used on 2 of this series is in commemoration of these events, showing Our Lady holding the child, Jesus. The date below her feet is 1693. The medal is a reproduction of an antique dated early 1800s + PRAY YOUR ROSARY FOR ALL VICTIMS We dedicate these rosaries to all victims, as a part of our series on environmental / weather related tragedies. We hope to encourage people to remember, not only to pray your rosary for protection today but for those who have suffered in the past, for those who suffered sudden death with no time to convert. And for protection against future events. + Nature is Gods creature. When Christ was crucified, the earth rebelled and the earth quaked. The rocks cried out! The earth revolted against the reality that their creator was crucified by man (sin). There was darkness, lightning and the dead arose. Truly over history, thousands of people have died in the lake of fire spewed from active volcanos if not from the eruption of fire, smoke and debrie or from the earthquakes that followed. Mary identified herself as, "I am the Lady of the Rosary", and continued, "I have come to warn the faithful to amend their lives and to ask pardon for their sins. They must not offend our Lord any more, for he is already to grievously offended by the sins of men. People must say the rosary. Let them continue saying it every day.
+ AVE BEADS: Rhyolite is a byproduct of volcanic action. We have used a hard to find faceted rhyolite to show the beauty of this bead with its many colors. The dominant color of green gives us a sense of hope. PATER BEADS: The Faceted Crystal Swarovski Paters give a firey, rich orange. Eye of the camera does not do this rosary justice. +
+ MEDAL OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION This medal dated 1693 commemorates the destruction of Catania Sicily when an earthquake destroyed the city. It is a sign of victory as the city designated our Lady of the Immaculate Conception as their patroness, and rebuilt the city using the lava a building stones. + LORD OF MIRACLES MEDAL Se?or de los Milagros (the Lord of Miracles), is the patron saint of Lima. Every October for over 350 years, there is a major celebration including nearly 2 million people who celebrate in a procession that includes this enormous image shaped like this medal (above). Purple is the color of the participants which includes those who have received a miracle, who will wear the color for up to a year in thanksgiving. + THE STORY OF THE EARTHQUAKE: In 1651 a picture of a colored Jesus Christ crucified was painted on a wall by an Angolan slave. Four years later on Nov. 13, 1655, an earthquake struck Lima. Most of the city was leveled, but that image painted on the wall of Jesus was undamaged. It's believed that this image has been the occasion of many miracles.
