Connemara (Irish: Conamara), from Conmhaicne Mara (meaning: descendants of Con Mhac, of the sea) - Connemara Marble is truly beautiful and can be very hard to find in such rich deep color! We found this gathering of Connemara Marble in Ireland last year and felt very, very blessed! It is very hard to find this beautiful.

AVE BEADS: fine grained 8mm exotic wood for simplicity PATER BEADS: Natural Connemara Marble ovals framed with antiqued filigree metal caps. Note the rare 19c "Galway Crucifix" on this rosary with a "shield to ward" for the center center. Crucifix seen in museums in Ireland show influence of Ireland and Spain. Note 3 beads each side to remind us of his love for the triune God.

Note the natural variegated shades of the marble depending on where it was cut. Again, don't muss the rare 'Galway Crucifix" that reflects the influence of Ireland and Spain in the 1700s. We saw many at the HUNT museum in Limerick Ireland (may be seen the history section of our site.)

~ ABOUT CONNEMARA MARBLE ~

ARCHITECTURAL USE
Connemara marble may be seen used in buildings throughout the world. Here in the United States, a very fine example may be seen in the State Capital Building, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The Senate Chamber and Post Office. Starting in the 50s, it was being used in many churches in Ireland including the floors of the new Galway Cathedral (note background). It may also be seen at Shannon and Dublin Airports.

ARTS AND CRAFTS
Very popular are the uses of Connemara marble to make various craft and art items. It is used in jewelry, rosaries, chess boards, souvenirs and tablewear. The youth of Ireland presented the Holy Father John Paul II a beautiful crucifix and matching candlesticks in 1981. (donated by Connemara Marble ltd.)

QUALITIES
Found only in Connemara Ireland, the marbles may vary in many shades of green including varigated creamy greens. It is a very finely grained marble and many claim there is no finer green marble found anywhere in the world.

... a joy to hold ...
The Connemara marble rosary arrived today, safe and sound. It is very beautiful and a joy to hold. I have always been interested in a Connemara rosary, but the ones that one usually sees in O'Connell Street, Dublin, and Souvenir Shops are so badly put together, and the beads of a very poor standard. ... it is a gorgeous rosary ...
The Connamara marble rosary is so lovely! The colors evoke images of spring, renewal and spiritual rebirth. What an appropriate rosary for the blessed Easter season! The variable green marble Ave's and the amber glass caps on the Pater's also remind me of the old green and yellow horn Irish rosaries of many decades past.
