 IS LAVA GLASS? - WHAT IS JASPER?
Obsidian (Lava) is a type of glass (high silica content) that is formed through volcanic action. We see Obsidian or lava flowing out of volcanos in its red hot liquid form.  When it cools qickly, it cannot form crystals. It is so tough it is used for cutting edges and counter tops.

Jasper comes in many colors and carries a variety of names ( 17+ ) such as Flower Jasper, Poppy Jasper, Leopard Jasper, Landscape Jasper and Picture Jasper. The latter two are prized for natural formations that often appear to be scenes or images. Jasper is a type of opaque Chalcedony and has been used since ancient times. (See Exodus 28:20 and Revelation 21:11 for more information.)
