BLESSINGS FROM HEAVEN
Scripture tells us that Olivewood is not just any wood, it holds special blessings from heaven. We have tried for several years to get a high quality olivewood bead from Jerusalem but because of the conflict in the area we lost contact with two suppliers and left it in the hands of the Lord. Recently, we were contacted by a group at the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem. We were deeply impressed with the quality of their work when we received our first shipment. And understood why they are called to supply the Vatican with their work.

ARE LIKE SILVER LAMPS
This rosary is inspired and hopefully reflects the essence of the beautiful church built over the birth place of our Lord, Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. The silver Pater beads represent the many hanging silver lamps above the altar and the birthplace of Jesus in the grotto. The silver lamps are to be seen in many of the old churches in the area such as the altar over the site of the crucifixion of Jesus (Church of the Holy Sepulcher.)

It is believed by the community in Bethlehem 'that in the coming years it will be so hard to find Bethlehem olive wood and all the crafts and articles that are made from this wood will become collector's items.'

BIBLE ARTISTS
These beautiful Beads are hand made from the trimmings of the Bethlehem Holy Land olive trees by the Bethlehem Bible Artists. Every Two years the olive trees are pruned so that they bear fruit an essential process which allows a new and healthier growth for the trees and to generate environmental stability.

A HEAVY, DENSE AND DURABLE WOOD
Bethlehem olive wood is heavy, dense and durable with a distinctive red pigment in its grain. All carvings made of this hard wood have a varying and smooth grain, making every piece extraordinarily unique. It is very difficult to match the grain of two pieces since the pattern is completely hidden in the heart of the wood. As it ages, it will become darker and richer in color thus making it even more beautiful.

You can estimate the age of a particular piece by examining its grain. Very old trees have a dark grain while younger trees exhibit a lighter color.

ABOUT OUR ROSARY
One of the first rosaries I ever made was using olive pits from a very old rosary, probably from the turn of the century. Then about 50 years ago, the rusty, broken handmade chain was removed and a black cord was threaded through each bead then individually knotted off.

Roughly faceted (English cuts) Jet beads were used as Pater beads (See picture above). It had long since lost its crucifix but the now broken string of beads were still in my box and every time I picked them up, we would connect visually and spiritually. So I decided to restring it this year. I pray it every night as discovered that there is a holiness about it that none of the other beads have. This is the rosary we offer above. You will note the more you use it, the more beautiful it becomes.

OLDEST ROSARIES FOUND
IN HOLY LAND ARE FROM OLIVE PITS
These Olive Pits have been especially drilled for us by the Bethlehem Bible Artists and we pass them on to you with great pleasure. Our friend at the Nativity Church, Ghasan said, 'Some of the oldest rosaries found in Bethlehem, the Holy Land are made from olive pits.'

In the beginning
Genesis speaks about how the Lord made trees

9 Out of the ground the LORD made various trees grow that were delightful to look at and good for food, with the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and bad.

A river rises in Eden to water the garden; beyond there it divides and becomes four branches.

In 3:22-24
the Lord goes so far as to protect the Tree of Life:

Then the LORD God said: “See! The man has become like one of us, knowing what is good and what is bad! Therefore, he must not be allowed to put out his hand to take fruit from the tree of life also, and thus eat of it and live forever.” 23 The LORD God therefore banished him from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he had been taken. 24 When he expelled the man, he settled him east of the garden of Eden; and he stationed the cherubim and the fiery revolving sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.

IN PROVERBS
In Proverbs there are several entrys
on the Tree of Life: Regarding Wisdom,

'She is a tree of life to those who grasp her, and he is happy who holds her fast. (Prov 3:18). And'The fruit of virtue is a tree of life' (11:30).

Proverbs speaks of hope and a soothing tongue: '

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a wish fulfilled is a tree of life. (13:12) and'A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse one crushes the spirit.' (15:4)

IN REVELATION
There are wonderful, mysterious
and firm words to be shared to the churches
(people) in Revelations regarding the Tree of Life.

“Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the victor I will give the right to eat from the tree of life that is in the garden of God.”(2:7).

In 22:2, it points out that the Tree of Life not only
produce fruit all year around but is used for medicine.

'Then the angel showed me the river of life-giving water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of its street. On either side of the river grew the tree of life that produces fruit twelve times a year, once each month; the leaves of the trees serve as medicine for the nations.

Certainly there is a sense
of preparation before entering the Holy City ...

" Blessed are they who wash their robes so as to have the right to the tree of life and enter the city through its gates. (22:14).

... And in verse 19 there is a strong warning,

' and if anyone takes away from the words in this prophetic book, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city described in this book.
