(1656 - 1680) St Kateri Tekakwitha, Mohawk: "Te-kak-wee-da" also known as 'Lily of the Mohawks' Anglicized as "Kateri" Katherine (1656 – April 17, 1680) was a 24 year old Algonquian Native American religious lay woman from New France (present-day Auriesville New York, home of the National Shrine of Norh American Maryters) and an early convert to Christianity after being shunned by her family and pagan tribes.
