*HIGHER THAN ANGELS* |
ARE THEY HIGHER THAN ANGELS?, SAINTS? What about the unborn? the preborn? the aborted babies? Where are they in God's heavenly spectrum? What does the church teach? Are they 'Angels" or are they "Higher than Angels"? Are they little Saints? What does the Church teach? There is a lot of bad information out there that creates unnecessary guilt. The truth teaches us that God loves and forgives. Think of this: + FOR STARTERS WHAT IS A FETUS? is it simply tissue or a parasite as some would want you to believe?
+ AN EMBRYO?
+ "I had often wondered if when I was born I was already 9 months old, going on 10? How does the church respond to all these question?" We are going to find out. + for more information see more as we complete this new page HOLY INNOCENTS |
*4 STEPS TO SAINTHOOD* |
SERVANT OF GOD - VENERABLE - BLESSED - SAINT As a Protestant, I did not understand why saints were only Catholic. Then someone explained to me that the term 'Saint' is a family thing, like a name. In other words, Catholics did not have right to decide what name others were to be called. Sort of like relatives. Catholics respected the rights of other Christians to honor Servants of God in their own way, as they see fit. RW + LEARNING ABOUT SERVANT OF GOD Where does it come from? Is it in scripture? MOSES WAS CALLED A SERVANT OF GOD as were others in the Old Testament + 2 CHRONICLES 24:9
+ NEHEMIAH 10:29;
STAGES of CANONIZATION IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH (understanding the 4 seps to sainthood, what does it all mean?) STEP 1: SERVANT
OF GOD
STEP 2: VENERABLE: VEN.ER.A.BLE - respected, venerated, revered, honored, esteemed, hallowed, august, distinguished, eminent, great, grand More The next step is being declared Venerable, upon a decree of heroism or martyrdom by the honored. + STEP 3: BLESSED: BLESS.ED - blest,?blesid/adjective 1. made holy; consecrated. That is followed by beatification, with the title of Blessed, after the confirmation of miracles resulting from the intercession of the honored. + STEP 4: SAINT: The final step is canonization, where the honored would receive the title of Saint. The process for canonization is under the jurisdiction of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Canonization relates to names in the 'Canon of the Mass' + for more information see below: SERVANT OF GOD - VENERABLE BLESSED - SAINTHOOD |
*1. SERVANT of GOD* |
"Servant of God" is the title given to a deceased person of the Catholic Church whose life and works are being studied in consideration for official recognition by the Pope and the Catholic Church as a saint in Heaven. The title "Servant of God" (Latin: Servus Dei) should not be confused with Servus Servorum Dei (Servant of the Servants of God), one of the titles of the Pope. + FIRST OF 4 STEPS: Receiving the title Servant of God is the first of the four steps in the canonization process. The next step is being declared Venerable, upon a decree of heroism or martyrdom by the honored. That is followed by beatification, with the title of Blessed, after the confirmation of miracles resulting from the intercession of the honored. The final step is canonization, where the honored would receive the title of Saint.[6][7] The process for canonization is under the jurisdiction of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. + BIBLE 1. SERVANT OF GOD The expression "servant of God" appears seven times in the Bible. All four times in the old testament, and one of the three times in the new testament, In the Catholic Church, 'SERVANT OF GOD' designates someone who is being studied by the Church for possible sainthood. + IN REVELATION 15:3 MOSES IS CALLED THE SERVANT OF GOD
"a slave (servant) of God" in Titus 1:1:
"A SLAVE (servant) OF GOD" in JAMES 1:1:
it refers to "Moses the servant of God" (1Chronicles 6:49; 2Chronicles 24:9; Nehemiah 10:29; Daniel 9:11; Revelation 15:3). In the new testament, Paul calls himself "a servant of God" in Titus 1:1, and James calls himself "a servant of God" in James 1:1. Following the rules of English grammar standardized in the King James Bible, the word "servant" is never capitalized or used as a title of nobility. ("The servant is not greater than his lord.")[3] |
*2. VENERABLE* |
In the Latin Church of the Catholic Church, a deceased Catholic may be declared a Servant of God by a bishopand proposed for beatification by the Pope through the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. The Venerable is the style used for such a servant of God declared to be "heroic in virtue" during the investigation and process leading to possible canonization as a saint. + Before a person is considered to be venerable, that person must be declared as such by a proclamation, approved by the Pope, of having lived a life that was "heroic in virtue", the virtues being the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity and the cardinal virtues of prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance. |
*3. BEATIFIED* |
Pope John Paul II beatified more people than many of his predecessors and was himself beatified six years after his death. Beatification (from Latin beatus, "blessed") is a recognition accorded by the Catholic Church of a dead person's entrance into Heaven and capacity to intercede on behalf of individuals who pray in his or her name (intercession of saints). Beatification is the third of the four steps in the canonization process. A person who is beatified is in English given the title "Blessed". |
*4. SAINTHOOD* |
The final step is canonization, where the honored would receive the title of Saint. The process for canonization is under the jurisdiction of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. + CANON OF THE MASS The word “canonization” comes from the celebration of the Mass. What we now call the “Eucharistic Prayer” was formerly known as the “Canon of the Mass.” Therefore, to say that one is “canonized” means that his/her name is able to be included in the list of saints in the “Canon of the Mass.” The term is still in use today since that ancient rule-of-thumb still applies. When a person is canonized or named a Saint, the Church may celebrate the Saint’s feast day and the name may be included in the Eucharistic Prayer. THE MENTIONING OF NAMES OF THE HOLY AT THE EARLY CELEBRATION OF THE EUCHARIST (HOLY MASS) , MAY DATE AS EARLY AS THE 2ND CENTURY, |
*ORIGIN of the TERM 'CANON* |
"MEASURING ROD or RULE' (Father Corey Litzner) "The word canon come from the Greek word for "measuring rod, or rule." You know that we call the Bible the Canon of the Scriptures. In other words, the books of the Bible are the rule, or measuring rod of the faith. That's why the popes and bishops who finally put the Bible together chose the books they did guided by the holy spirit. There is also canon law. This law is the measuring rod, or rule of all the other little customs or laws that are made. In this sense canon law is kind of like the U. S. Constitution is meant to work. The Constitution is meant to function as a measuring rod for all the other laws made by the legislative branch or things done by the president or the judiciary. The canon of the Mass is the measuring rod, or rule, that the priest has to follow for the consecration to take place and for the Mass to be valid. Finally, by canonizing
a saint, a pope by power of his authority to bind and loose, says that,
after a period in which he and his people in the congregation for the causes
of saints have tried and tested the worthiness of the candidate for canonization,
the man or woman under consideration measures up and is definitely now
in heaven and so can be prayed to officially in the liturgy of the church."

*THE HOLY INNOCENTS* |
ARE THEY HIGHER THAN ANGELS?, SAINTS? We learn about the little martyred children, baptized in blood who were killed by King Herod in his attemp to kill the baby Jesus when he learned about the birth of the 'new king'. Can we relate them today to our little ones who die before leaving their mothers womb? IGUR (Intrauterine growth restriction), Stillbirth? The unborn? The miscarried? the aborted? What happens to them? Or to the little ones who die after birth and are not baptized? + MATTHEW 2:16
