He was a 'very sensitive and contemplative child' according to those who knew him. He loved music and played a flute so his little sister and cousin could dance. They called the stars, 'The Angels Lanterns.' Francisco enjoyed playing games with his friends. +
THE PATERS SYMBOLIZE THE PUDDLES OF RAIN THAT STOOD ON THE GROUNDS OF THE APPARITION SITE He would play
jokes on family members but when he saw a boy tease a bird, he gave him
all the money he had, a penny or so - in exchange for the bird so he could
free it. His life changed dramatically after the apparitions. He matured
quickly. His greatest love became the eucharistic 'Hidden Jesus'. When
asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, he answered, 'Nothing, I want
to die and go to heaven.' He died at home of influenza on 4 April
1919. He was 11.
