 Are you familiar with this rosary born of the Old Yugoslavian Grandmothers Peace Chaplet with its 7 sets of 3 prayers? This prayer knows no specific Denomination - no specific prayer sequence. It begins with 1. praying for peace in ones heart, then 2. ones marriage (reaching out to all marriages.)  3. peace in our family, 4. our neighborhood, 5. nation or country, 6. the world.  7. and unity in the churchs. It grows from peace in our hearts outward to the world.

A FATHER WHO KEEPS HIS PROMISE
 As Liane, a friend of my daughter Mary,  was telling me about this, my mind went directly to Scott Hahns book, 'A FATHER WHO KEEPS HIS PROMISE  God's Covenant Love in Scripture' in which he describes the 6 Covenants of God with his people. The Old Covenant into the New, Salvation History hidden in the Old Testament and revealed in the New Testament. This rosary sequence grows from one person outward - and all for unity in the body of Christ.

~ FAMILY COVENANTS ~

THE OLD REVEALED IN THE NEW
Jesus is called the New Adam, Seed of Abraham, the New Moses, Son of David,  Son of God and the Lamb of God. In this we see the New covenant concealed in the Old and the Old Revealed in the New.  The same as the Old Testament and the New. Scott Hahn helps us to see this progression of God's perfect plan of love and unity:

NEW COVENANT - EUCHARIST - CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE
*When Christ sealed the New Covenant with his blood on the Cross, it was a sign of perfect charity and love. It represents Christ's covenant of love with his bride, the Church.  We are the Church, we are the bride.

We enter into this mystery every day in Eucharist which is the very source of Christian Marriage. When we receive Eucharist, we become one body - not only in marriage - but in the fullness of the body of Christ - Past - Present - Future.  It also becomes full circle back to the first covenant.  (Full circle, never ending, eternal symbol of God.)  This chaplet offers each one of us the opportunity to enter into this mystery.

Start with the large bead
APOSTLES CREED

on the next 7 sets of 3 pray one each:
AVE, PATER, GLORY BE
or your choice of prayer on each set of 3 such as
OUR FATHER 3 TIMES
Name the beads after loved ones.
 

~ 9 DAY NOVENA ~

As a 9 day novena, each day pray one set of the 3 prayers below, repeating 3 times.
Request your personal intention.

~ PETITIONS - INTERCESSIONS ~

1st bead
Ask the Lord to open your heart to his will, his love, compassion, healing and forgiveness

2nd through 7th bead
begin praying for peace and love in your marriage or all marriages
then move into each of the guidelines below.

~ PRESENT MOMENT FAMILY ~

Pray this chaplet 3 times around as you would a complete rosary with the 3 mysteries.  (one or all each day) Use the Prayers of your choice from above and as you pray for the whole body of Christ, remember the following:  1. Your present moment family, family members alive in this time and space.  2. For the souls of your family members who have died.  3. And for your future family, those who are to come.

 Almighty and eternal God. May your grace enkindle in all of us a love for the many unfortunate people whom poverty and misery reduce to a condition of life unworthy of human beings.  Arouse in the hearts of those who call you Father a hunger and thirst for social justice and for fraternal  charity in deeds and in truth.  Grant, O Lord, peace in our days, peace to souls, peace to families, peace to our country, and peace among nations.  Amen. - Pope Pius XII

FAMILY MEMBERS YET TO BE BORN

 I am a member of my family, my neighborhood, city, state, nation.  I am a member of the eternal family of God.  This family of God embraces all who have lived before me and all who will live after me. We are all apart of the same family tree. We are called to love one another. We are called to cry out for the unborn -

The Lord said to me, "You are my son; this day I have begotten you. Ask of me and I will give you the nations from an inheritance and the ends of the earth for your possession." And now, O kings, give heed; take warning, you rulers of the earth.  Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice before him: with trembling, pay homage to him. Psalm 2
