about Seeds of Assisi Chaplets ~ For twenty years-plus - I was a capuchin franciscan friar. I tell you this because I believe you've captured the franciscan spirit in these two magnificent pieces of art for prayer - (Seeds of Assisi I and II) - that arrived today. I've been trying to figure out how to describe these chaplets and was reminded of some of the early biographies of St. Francis. One author, maybe Thomas of Celano, said that Francis was not so much seen - as someone who prayed - but was seen - as a prayer himself. + I think your 'Seeds of Assisi' are not just sacramentals and aids to prayer - but they are a prayer. They give glory to God by just being beautiful and full of Franciscan simplicity. The Eastern churches often speak of icons and sacramentals as having a presence - perhaps a presence of a saint or the Spirit. I am coming to believe that your guild is made up of very holy folks and your beads take on a presence [of] leading people into prayer, but also - pray themselves - by being what they are.
