+ ON EARTH TO OUR ETERNAL HOME But not all of us are able to travel across the ocean or even to special sites here in our country so this rosary, THE WAY OF THE PILGRIM is intended to give those who are aware of their pilgrimage on earth, through time to their Eternal Home. Each little medal on the rosary below is hand cast from an 18c medal in either sterling or solid bronze then antiqued. + We have attached one to the center of each decade, as traditionally practiced for centuries. Each Latin American medal is a perfect reminder to pray for a special loved one or one who has asked for your prayers. (All medals below are individually available in Parts catalogs under SUPPLIES.) for more information see (check for availability as limited, unable to replace) TURQUOISE - FOSSIL CORAL - CHERRYWOOD CRUCIFIX & MEDALS - RSDA SHOPPING CART - SUPPLIES and check out this FOR MORE LINKS |
THE PILGRIMAGE ROSARY Pilgrimages to holy sites have been a rich part of the history of the church for thousands of years. Records from the early 17c on show the Filigree Rosary and its travels from one holy site to another. This record was kept through the attachment of a tiny 'souvenir' medal for each stop along the way. A famous holy place in Ireland is Lough Derg, (Saint Patrick's Purgatory) believed to be one of the earliest holy sites visited by penitent pilgrims. Souvenirs from Lough Derg were the little carved wooden crosses with short arms that we now see used in the Penal Rosaries. + ST JOHN VIANNEY St. John Vianny was famous for the mini pilgrimages he led to the famous Basilicas in Rome. Today, when people visit Marian holy sites throughout Europe on special Pilgrimages they still collect souvenir medals along the way. Some of these were tiny hand painted faces framed in precious metal and covered with crystal to protect them. (See images in museum section of our site) + Pricing includes all medals shown. |

I am writing to compliment you on the "Pilgrimage" rosary I ordered from you--the piece arrived earlier today and I am thrilled. The coral pater beads are beautiful, and the medals are especially striking. Keep up the wonderful work! I look forward to placing another order soon. The only difficulty is which to choose....
